yay for poop!
It's definitely not a fun thing to deal with when your kids have poop problems, I'm glad he's doing good now.
Our grandson was "sort of" diagnosed w/VLCAD. Kaiser determined he had it but metabolic tests that came from the labs in Cincinatti have been borderline. He was born 9/6/09 and they put him on Lipistart just about aweek ago (today is 12/13/09)
He was projectile vomiting. i witnessed it on Friday evening while watching our son feed him on Skype. The WHOLE feeding flew out of his mouth..and they said he's been doing that since they started him on it. They actually called the dr the day before.. today, he was lethargic because he didn't want to take anymore bottles and most of his milk was thrown up. They took him to emergency and were told it was not the milk. He was doing fine on Enfamil w/iron and only after taking this lipistart, did his sleeping, eating, vomiting and pooping start to change. As a grandparent, I'm concerned and pretty upset about this.. what else could it be? It's grainy and it looks like he has pebbles in his poop.. our daughter in law went back to enfamil.
They told her VLCAD is rare.. how do the know? It is relatively new having only been found 5 to 7 years ago. For pete's sake.. this condition could have been in tens of thousands of people for years ..who doesn't get faint or lethargic if they don't eat??.. can't break down the fats? I'm starting tothink conspiracy theory here now and i don't like it.
